Photoshoot Locations - Community Resource

This page is related to my photography work, which is technically a different website but this one is easier to do updates on the fly. My photography is all on The Little Things We Miss.

This page is a public, community built resource of places to go and do location photoshoots for cosplay or whatever else you would like. There are individual entries with details like costs, directions, and reference photos as well as a custom google maps with each location pinned. This resource is for everyone’s benefit, and if you’d like to contribute, there’s a google form to submit a location for the resource. Happy shooting, and a big thank you to everyone whose contributed!

New Jersey

Hemlock Falls

  • Cost:: Free
  • Directions:: There’s a short hike from this parking lot to the actual falls. You’re going south from the lot (only way to go), then taking the first left. After that just follow the path till you find the falls.
  • Features:: There’s a handful of stone bridges and of course, a waterfall. The waterfall isn’t a lot of water, so you can get very close to it. The woods around the area are nice though not very dense. There’s a stone staircase that leads up to the top of the waterfall which can make for cool shots. There’s a lot of natural stone walls from the change of elevation around the waterfall.
  • Warnings:: The falls are easy to access so a lot of people come to sit and hang out by the falls. There’s a good amount of hikers as well. Be prepared for onlookers.
  • Shoots Here:: Pyrrha Nikos Casuals

Cross Garden Estates

  • Cost:: Free
  • Directions::
  • Features:: This is a small garden with some stone archways and stone walls. There’s a covered foliage area that’s interesting and some wider open areas as well.
  • Warnings::
  • Shoots Here:: “Normiecon” (only the first half of these photos are from this site, the bridges ones are a different one.)

Ringwood Manor

  • Cost:: Free
  • Directions:: This is a manor house grounds dedicated to a state park. There’s ample parking and you can walk the whole site with ease.
  • Features:: The grounds include grassy sections that have the occasional stone statue feature. Some of those areas are hilly and have stone stairs on the sides or center of the path. The manor house itself (unknown if you can enter at all) has large hedges nearby, a fountain, and other decor.
  • Warnings::

Grey Towers

  • Cost:: Free, Permit required. Fill out this form and email it to greytowers@fs.fed.us.
  • Directions:: The park service may give you specific parking directions. Upper lot can be accessed by main gate, take left at first fork, rear gate opens automatically if coming from inside 4ish is fine.
  • Features:: Grey Towers is a castle, not very large but an excellent backdrop. There are a number of stone garden areas including one with a large fountain, one with stone windows overlooking a hill, and some with overhanging vines. The whole castle is set on a hill and you can get some great views looking down.
  • Warnings:: The place is open to visitors, the form you fill out is just for doing private photography. It’s not too busy in my experience though.
