The Mountain Republic (MR)

Nicknamed “The Land of the Five Riches” a century ago, the Mountain Republic was previously a sparsely settled agricultural region until the dawn of magitech and industry. Now, those riches are the foundation for its success as an advanced world power:

  • abundant water, from its coasts and mountain springs
  • metal ores in abundant quantities -- iron, titanium, silver, and others for special purposes
  • geothermal heat from the great magma seas under the Gaddamon Mountains
  • thermocrystals -- spherical crystals that quickly absorb, then slowly emit, an incredible amount of heat; used to transfer heat from the magma seas to other parts of the MR
  • foambeans -- a legume that can be pureed into an edible foam, which acts as a protein-rich base for much MR cuisine. Also, when dried, the foam loses its edibility and begins to harden, so it can act as a cushiony material for various buildings and constructed objects.
